Viva Las Vegas!

Today Ann-Margret turns 71 and I wish that I had half of her career and all of her looks.  I first fell in love with Ann-Margret in Viva Las Vegas.  To me she was Elvis' true match in singing and dancing and they made a gorgeous couple.  Happy Birthday Ann-Margret here's to many more and thank you for your contribution to my life.  You are a true beauty as well as a remarkable talent, young people today can really learn a thing or two about grace and beauty from stars like you.

Why Me?

Sometimes I really wonder why things happen to me.  I know that I am not a perfect person, but sometimes I wonder if I am really a horrible person because of all the bad things that happen to me.  I am typically not a spiritual person and here is the reason for that.  I feel like when I pray for things my prayers are never heard or answered.  Now I have had many prayers answered and I do thank God for the things he has blessed me with, but sometimes I really wonder, why me?  I am sure that the majority of people that inhabit this Earth have had some type of financial problem at some point of time in their life.  I am also aware that there are people out there who have it way worse than me, and whenever I feel like things can not get any worse for me I think about those people.  But there are still times when I wonder, why me?

Obsessed...

I have been known to become a little obsessed with things at times.  When I find something new that I love I immerse myself in it and become well, obsessed.  My latest obsession is the television show The Tudors.  I started watching it about two weeks ago and I am almost done the entire series :(  I have become obsessed with this show because it is just so GOOD.  The cast is perfect and the costumes are magnificent, especially the jewelry.  When I am done watching the series I will definitely be sad.  After each episode I find myself on the Internet trying to find out as much information about characters as possible.  And while I don't wish that I lived during King Henry VIII's reign, I would definitely love to time travel there for a visit.

I have also become obsessed with Netflix.  My Netflix obsession is what led to my Tudors obsession, lol.  Other than that my normal obsessions with coffee, food, and music are still alive and well :)

America's Oldest Teenager

Yesterday America lost a true legend and icon.  Richard Wagstaff "Dick" Clark truly changed the course of history and not just entertainment history.  American Bandstand changed history and really had a strong influence on the lives of so many people.  Dick Clark was America's boy next door, he seemed to never age and was thus given the nickname "America's Oldest Teenager".  When I heard of his passing I could not stop crying, I just kept thinking wow, this is the end of an era.  Dick Clark loved music, he loved people, and he loved bringing light to people's lives.  I would look forward to him every New Year's Eve and after he suffered a stroke the program was never the same.  But in true Dick Clark style he did not give up, he re-learned how to talk and walk and came back to New Year's Rockin' Eve.  My favorite part of the program was the countdown into the new year, Dick Clark would count down and I would count down with him.  I am so heartbroken that I never got to meet this true legend, but his memory will live on and I will never forget the impact that he had on my life.  R.I.P Dick, and know that you will NEVER be forgotten.

All I Really Want...

All I really want is for someone to ask me how I'm doing.  I want someone to ask me how I'm doing, but know better than to believe me when I tell them that I'm fine.  I want that person to look into my eyes and know that I am not fine.  All I really want is a person who takes the time tell me that things will get better and convince me that it's the truth.  I just want one person in my life that truly understands me and makes an effort to understand me.  I'm not a complicated person but I am also not simple minded.  All I really want is someone to talk to, someone who will listen to me no matter what I have to say.  All I really want is to LOVED.

Job Interview...

So I had a job interview today and I must say it went pretty well.  The woman who interviewed me was really down to earth and sweet.  I have a call back for a working interview, which is exactly what it sounds like.  I will be working for two hours to get a feel for the center and the children so I am really excited.  I hope that I get the job, I need the money and the experience can't hurt :)  Wish me luck everyone!

Giant!

Just watched Giant starring Elizabeth Taylor and Rock Hudson as well as James Dean.  It was amazing!  It was over three hours but well worth the time because I literally fell in love with the movie.  We really do not have actors or movies like this one anymore and my heart is literally sad because of it.  I tend to fall in love with most classic movies and this is definitely a classic, I would recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it and if you have seen it, watch it again :)  The whole cast was beautiful from the stubborn Jordan Benedict to the drunk but charming Jett Rink.  Even as the characters aged they were all more beautiful than I could ever hope to be.  It really was a delight.

Goodnight Moon

Just a few photos of the moon from my backyard :)  Enjoy this beautiful night!

What A Man...

On today's date in 1916 one of the greatest actors to ever grace the silver screen was born.  Eldred Gregory Peck is known for being a part of two American classics; Moby Dick and To Kill A Mockingbird.  But most people do not know that he was an activist and fought for civil rights as well as gay rights.  He was a man who was born before his time, we could really use someone like him today with all that is going on in our world.  I fell in love with Mr. Peck the first time I watched To Kill A Mockingbird.  I was in 9th grade and my English teacher allowed us to watch the movie to compare it to the novel which we were reading in class at the time.  All of my friends were making fun of the movie because it is in black and white and calling it boring, but I was completely mesmerized by Atticus Finch.  All I could think of was here was a father who was doing all he could to teach his children right from wrong, even if others did not agree with his ideas.  Gregory Peck was in my opinion very much like Atticus Finch, he stood up for what he believed in no matter what others thought.  We can all learn something from his way of thinking, we need to stand up for what we believe in and support causes that mean something to us.  I will try to carry these learned lessons with me throughout my life and hope that others do so as well.  Happy Birthday Gregory Peck and thank you!

Long Walk

Today I went out for a walk to apply for a few jobs and it actually turned out to be really nice.  The weather is beautiful today and the tree's are in full bloom making for some pretty nice scenery.  On my way home I stopped by the Philly Pretzel Factory to pick up some delicious pretzels :)  Hope everyone has a great day!

Friends

Everybody has friends, some people have good friends, but only a select few people have best friends.  I personally do not have a best friend.  I am bringing up the topic of friendship because I watched one of my favorite movies this weekend; Tombstone.  Now when most people think about movies featuring best friends, they probably do not think of Tombstone, but they should.  I watched this movie for the first time when I was about 4 years old, and have watched it about 100 times since :)  The characters Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp proved to me that if you find a true and loyal friend, you should hold on to that person because you will never find anyone else like them.  Watching this movie growing up made me set some pretty high standards for any of my potential friends, standards which I still hold today. (Maybe this is why I don't have many friends, lol).  So as I search for a best friend I will be reminded of the friendship between these two men.

ACM Awards

So the ACM Awards were last night and they did not disappoint.  The show was amazing and the performances were phenomenal.  What I love about country music award shows is that they really focus on the performers, many other award shows are boring because they only have a few performers and rely on the hosts to carry the rest of the show.  Reba and Blake were great and they were funny, but the entire show did not fall on their shoulders which is why I think it was so successful in my opinion.  I love country music and this show was all about country music and it's biggest and brightest stars.  I wish that I had TiVo so I could re-watch it over and over :)
